Petroglyph National Monument - Activities*Visit Las Imagenes Visitor Center - get orientation on park trails, special events and guided tours. (30 minutes) *Boca Negra Canyon- Developed area, easy to moderately strenuous. Take any or all of three short trails to view approximately 200 petroglyphs. Water fountain, picnic tables and restrooms are available. (1 hour) Note: City of Albuquerque Parking fee of $1 per car weekdays and $2 per car weekends. Dogs are NOT allowed in this area. *Rinconada Canyon- Natural area, primitive trail system with no water or other services. The dirt trail is moderately strenuous. Approximately 400 Petroglyphs viewable. Allow two hours. *Volcanoes- No services, dirt trails moderate to strenuous. Outstanding views of the City and Sandia Peak. For all hiking and walking, wear appropriate and comfortable shoes. Wear a hat and carry plenty of water. Please be aware that Petroglyph N.M. is home to many rattlesnakes. Keep your eyes and ears open. If you are fortunate enough to encounter a rattlesnake, please respect him and give him plenty of room! To Groups: For your safety, we ask that you please call 899-0205 ext. 335 and inform the National Park Service that you are visiting the monument. Identify your group, group size and estimated arrival and departure time. We appreciate your cooperation. |
