Description: The Cedar City Ranger District will open Duck Creek campground for walk-in (first-come, first serve) camping by mid-May and close by September 30, weather permitting. Summer season reservations start on 6-9-08 and ends on 9-1-08. The campground's Loop A will remain open for dry camping (vault toilet, no water) until the snow falls. The Duck Creek campground is located 28 miles east of the town of Cedar City, Utah. It sits in a spruce forest, right next to Duck Lake and Duck Creek, which are popular fishing areas. (The lake and creek are NOT visible from the campground.) Popular attractions nearby include Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park and Cedar Breaks National Monument. Excellent Biking, hiking, boating and ATVing opportunities are available for recreation. The Duck Creek Forest Service visitor center is just across the highway from the campground. Boat rental and boat launching are available at Navajo Lake 5 miles west of the Duck Creek campground. Food services, lodging, showers, groceries, gasoline, and laundry are available at the Duck Creek Village, 3 miles east of the campground. The campground has 85 single units, 2 double units (sites 45 & 62), 4 triple units (sites 58, 74, 90, & 91), 4 group units. (Only a portion of these sites are reservable) Facilities:, Culinary water is piped from a deep spring into a developed well., Water hydrants are shared between units., Each unit has a fire ring and a table., Firewood is for sale by the camp host., Five flush toilets and 1 vault toilet are provided; sorry, NO showers., Trailer dump station is available., Road and spurs are paved., RV length can be NO longer than 35 feet., NO hook-ups or electrical outlets., Amphitheater is available and reservable at time of arrival with the Camp Hosts., The ATV parking lot sits between camp sites 89 and 90. Te-ah Campground

Description: Te-Ah campground is located 28 miles east of Cedar City, Utah, in an Aspen forest about 1/2 mile distance from Navajo lake. Most of the campsites have a small amount of shade. Excellent hiking, biking, and fishing opportunities. Pinks trail from upper portion of campground into pink cliffs is 1/2 mile long; Virgin River Rim trail provides beautiful views of the Virgin River basin and of Zion National Park. Attractions nearby include Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, Cedar Breaks National Monument. The Cedar City Ranger District will TRY to have the Te-Ah campground open for walk-in (first-come, first-serve) camping by Memorial Day weekend, depending on the weather conditions. Following Labor Day weekend, the campground will close to reservations, but will remain open for walk-in campers (water, flush toilets) until late September. It will then stay open for dry camping (pit toilet & no water) until the snow falls. Facilities: Culinary water piped from a developed spring, a fire ring and table at each unit, firewood is for sale by the camp host, 2 flush toilets and 1 pit toilet, NO showers, central garbage bins, trailer dump station adjacent to the campground, Maximum RV length is 24 feet. Commercial fishing boat rentals, launching, lodging, and groceries are available at the Navajo Lake Lodge. Parking Fees: For single units, the first vehicle is free, thereafter a fee of $6.00 is charged for each additional car. Pets must be leashed and cleaned up after. No discharging firearms or fireworks. Campground has 41 single units, and 1 group unit (site #33) designated for bicycle tour groups. Site #33 is reserved for traveling bicycle tour groups, because they need it for just 1 or two days. It does NOT require a 3 night minimum stay on holiday weekends. It can hold a maximum of 20 people, but best fits 15. Parking can hold 4 conventional sized vehicles without trailers, OR 2 vehicles with trailers. Site fee is $30.00 a night. The site provides amenities tailored to bicycle tour groups. It has a work space next to the parking lot for self-contained kitchens, 3 picnic tables, a bicycle wash rack, and a bicycle parking rack.

Deer Haven Campground

Description: Located sixteen miles east of the town of Cedar City, Utah. Facilities include: 2 flush toilets and 1 vault toilet, an amphitheater with a large group fire ring, 2 tables and a fire ring at each tent site. NO showers. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out campground. Therefore campers must remove all garbage when vacating the campground. Garbage may be deposited at the Cedar Canyon or Duck Creek campgrounds. Culinary water is piped from a spring. There is not an abundant supply of water, please conserve available water in all activities. Parking is available in the central park lot and outside the campground fence and gate. Parking lot can hold 20 conventional vehicles. Campers should come prepared to carry gear from the central parking lot to the tent sites. The tent sites are for tents only. RV's are allowed only in the central parking lot. RV hook-ups are not available. Maximum RV length is 24 feet. Group site fee is $55.00 for the first 50 people, then $1.00 for each additional person after the first 50 people. Podunk Guard Station Campground

Description: Podunk Guard Station was constructed in 1928 and has been used by generations of Forest Service employees. The two room guard station sits in a narrow mountain valley beneath a stand of mature spruce trees and above the meandering East Fork of the Sevier River. This site has a permanent vault toilet, picnic table, a place for campfires and an interior propane stove. This Cabin does not have running water. The kitchen has a propane stove/oven, table and chairs. There are no a pots, pans, dishes or utensils; these must be provided by the occupant . There is water at the Tropic Reservoir Spring. The spring is approximately 8 miles from the cabin and located next to Tropic Reservoir (see map). Weather:The average temperatures from June to August are 74 in the day and 42 at night. The average temperature range in September is 68-37 the average range in October is 57-27 Recreational opportunities in the area include trails for hiking, mountain biking and ATV's. Pets are not allowed inside facilities. Off-highway vehicles can easily access the Paunsaugunt, Fremont and Great Western OHV routes from the guard station. Fishing opportunities: include Tropic Reservoir (81/2 miles north of the guard station) and the East Fork of the Sevier River. Access to the guard station requires driving 15 miles along Road 087 (well maintained dirt road), via Utah State Highway 12. Highway 12 is Utah's first All American Road designated by the National Scenic Byways program.

Description: The Cedar City Ranger District will TRY to have the Cedar Canyon campground open for walk-in (first-come, first-serve) camping by Memorial Day weekend and close on September 15, 2008 depending on the weather conditions. Summer season reservations open on June 9 and close September 1, 2008 respectively. The campground will remain open for dry camping (vault toilet, no water) until the snow falls. Located eleven miles east of Cedar City, Utah, Cedar Canyon Campground is situated next to Crow Creek at an elevation of 8,100 feet and is forested, with shade in most units. Cedar Canyon is conveniently close to Cedar City, Cedar Breaks National Monument, and the 34mile Virgin River Rim Trail open to hiking, mountain biking, and horses. A network of trails in the Ashdown Gorge Wilderness is close by also. Roads and spurs are paved. Firewood is sold by the bundle, and may be purchased from the camp host. Culinary water is piped from a spring. Two vault toilet restrooms are provided. No showers. No hookups for RVs. Other nearby attractions include Bryce Canyon National Park and Zion National Park.
