Special Programs Public tours of the White House are available for groups of 10 or more people. Requests must be submitted through one"s Member of Congress and are accepted up to six months in advance. These self-guided tours are available from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday (excluding federal holidays), and are scheduled on a first come, first served basis approximately one month in advance of the requested date. We encourage you to submit your request as early as possible since a limited number of tours are available. All White House tours are free of charge. For the most current tour information, please call the 24-hour line at 202-456-7041. Please note that White House tours may be subject to last minute cancellation. RANGER STATIONS Ellipse Visitor Pavilion Phone (202) 208-1631 Location The Ellipse Visitor Pavilion is located on the Ellipse, south of the White House. The nearest intersection is on 15th & E Streets, NW. Closures Closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year"s Day. Exhibits On the Ellipse, there are several Memorials, Monuments and Statues including the Boy Scout Memorial, Bulfinch Gatehouses, Butt-Millet Memorial Fountain, Enid Haupt Fountains, First Division Monument, Second Division Memorial, Original Patentees of District of Columbia, National Christmas Tree, and Zero Milestone. Available Facilities There is information, concessions and a sales area, restrooms, telephones, water fountains, First Aid area, all accessible. Closest Metro stops are McPherson Square (blue/orange line) and Metro Center (red line). VISITOR CENTERS White House Visitor Center Phone (202) 208-1631 Location The White House Visitor Center is located in the north end of the Department of Commerce Building between 14th & 15th Streets on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. Closures Closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year"s Day. Exhibits Six permanent exhibits relating to the White House including the First Families, Symbols & Images, White House Architecture, White House Interiors, Working White House and Ceremonies and Celebrations. A variety of exhibits change frequently during the year. They can be viewed at the White House Visitor Center daily. Available Facilities There are exhibits, information and sales area, restrooms, telephones, water fountains, First Aid area, all accessible. There are special programs such as park ranger talks, military concerts, traveling exhibits, look for a park ranger for most current information on these program. Closest Metro stops are Federal Triangle (blue/orange line) and Metro Center (red line). There is no parking available at the site, but there are several parking garages nearby. |
