Statue Of Liberty National Monument - Accessibility![]() Ferries are wheelchair accessible as well as the grounds of Liberty Island, its Information Center, concessions and all security screening areas. Those requiring the use of a wheelchair can enter the monument and experience the interior lobby, museum, and lower promenade including Fort Wood (what the Statue stands in). The pedestal Observatory platform includes the use of an elevator and a 24-step climb. Guide and other service animals are permitted in the park. For assistance, please contact a National Park Ranger or U.S. Park Police Officer. A limited number of wheelchairs are available at both Liberty and Ellis Island (on a first-come, first-served basis). For additional information on accessibility click on the link below. Ranger-guided tours in ASL - American Sign Language are provided free at scheduled intervals on Liberty Island.
