Visitors will experience a variety of activities available at the preserve. Activities include daily historic 1881 ranch house tours, prairie bus tours offered 3 times daily (11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.) from May - October, living history and natural history programs on weekends during the summer months, two frontcountry hiking trails open daylight hours year-round, backcountry day hiking available by free permit from May - October and on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) November - April, and the one-room Lower Fox Creek schoolhouse open weekends from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. in May, June, September, and October. The preserve also offers a Junior Ranger Program for children to earn their badges by answering the appropriate age level activities and questions.
