Closed Thanksgiving Day, December 25, and January 1.

Interpretive programs, including a documentary film about the attack on Pearl Harbor and the boat trip to the USS Arizona Memorial, begin at 8:00 a.m. (7:45 a.m. in summer). The last program each day begins at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are issued on a first come, first served basis. Visitors should expect crowds. Daily visitation to the park is about 4,500 people.

The National Park Service has operated the Memorial since 1980, under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Navy. Its responsibility includes the Memorial and shoreline Visitor Center. The National Park Service is committed to preserving and interpreting the tangible and intangible historical resources and the memories, attitudes and traditions associated with the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The Visitor Center is the first stop for visitors planning to tour the Memorial. Located within the Center are: two theaters, a museum, a bookstore, restrooms, limited snack bar, public telephones and exhibits outlining the Pearl Harbor attack.

When guests enter the Visitor Center, they are asked to line up for a numbered ticket, which provides free admission to the Memorial tour. While waiting for the tour to begin, many visitors tour the Visitor Center and its shoreline exhibits including the museum and Remembrance Circle. When the number that appears on their ticket is called, visitors are asked to assemble at the theater entrance in preparation for the tour to begin. The guided tour of the USS Arizona Memorial includes a 23-minute documentary film depicting the attack on Pearl Harbor, a short boat trip and a self-guided exploration of the Memorial.

For visitors interested in a narrated tour an audio headset is available for rent at the visitor center front lobby. Join Pearl Harbor Survivors as they remember December 7, 1941 in this one hour audio tour that is narrated by World War II veteran Ernest Borgnine. The audio tour takes visitors to 24 destinations and is available in seven languages: English, French, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, German and Spanish.

Strict security measures prohibit purses, handbags, fanny packs, backpacks, camera bags, diaper bags, luggage and/or other items that offer concealment. Visitors may bring a camera and cam-recorder. A storage facility, operated by a private vendor, is available for visitors coming to the USS Arizona Memorial, USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park and the Battleship Missouri. The facility can be found in the visitor center parking lot. Items accepted must be smaller than 30"H x 30"W x 18"D; suitcases are not accepted. There is a nominal storage fee. The storage facility is in operation daily 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Visitors may use the same bag storage and parking stall for all three tours.

Security measures are strictly enforced at all three visitor destinations on Pearl Harbor. Federal law enforcement officers and security bike patrols monitor the parking lots. However it is not recommended to secure items of value in your car. Be safe; do not travel with valuables and use the storage locker.

Members of the media should expect to have their equipment checked by NPS Law Enforcement upon arrival and before entering the park. Efforts should be made to minimize gear. All personnel must have media credentials or make the appropriate arrangements with the USS Arizona Memorial public affairs officer.

Dress Code

Civilians: Shirts, shorts, and footwear. Swimwear is not allowed.

Military: Class B Uniforms or equivalent - No Battle Dress Uniforms (BDU"s) or Work Uniforms

Getting There

Car
Points East (Waikiki & Downtown Honolulu)

Honolulu is a large metropolitan area. Please plan for traffic. The USS Arizona Memorial is approximately a 45-minute drive from Waikiki.

Take Ala Moana Blvd. / Nimitz Highway or (H-1) West to begin. While on H-1; look for the USS Arizona/Stadium exit, #15A.

DO NOT TAKE THE PEARL HARBOR EXIT

Continue on HI-99 (Kamehameha Highway) and turn left at the 4th traffic light onto Arizona Memorial Place. At the base of the hill turn right and the parking lot is on the left. An overflow parking lot is on the right for use later in the day. Please park before unloading.

Points West (Kapolei & Waianae)

Take Interstate Highway 1 East (H-1) to begin. Take Exit #13A toward Aiea onto Moanalua Road; stay in the far right lane and take the Stadium/Aiea Exit. Continue on Moanalua Road and turn left at first stoplight onto HI-99 East (Kamehameha Highway).

Continue on HI-99 (Kamehameha Highway) and turn right onto Arizona Memorial Place. At the base of the hill turn right and the parking lot is on the left. An overflow parking lot is on the right for use later in the day. Please park before unloading.

Points Windward (Kaneohe & Kailua)

Take Interstate Highway 3 West (H-3); take Exit 1C towards Halawa/Camp Smith/Aiea/Stadium; turn left on Kahuapaani Street. Follow signs for Stadium/Honolulu. Turn right on Salt Lake Blvd. Continue following signs for Stadium. Turn left on HI-99 East, also called Kamehameha Highway.

Continue on HI-99 (Kamehameha Highway) and turn right onto Arizona Memorial Place. At the base of the hill turn right and the parking lot is on the left. An overflow parking lot is on the right for use later in the day. Please park before unloading.

Points North (North Shore & Haleiwa)

Start on HI-99 and continue on HI-80. Continue on HI-99 South. Take I-H2 South toward Honolulu. Head toward Honolulu and take Exit #1A onto Interstate 1 East. Take Exit #13A toward Aiea onto Moanalua Road; stay in the far right lane and take the Stadium/Aiea Exit. Continue on Moanalua Road and turn left at first stoplight onto HI-99 East (Kamehameha Highway).

Public Transportation
For those without cars, several alternatives by bus are available: Honolulu public transit buses stop regularly at the Visitor Center and can be boarded in Waikiki. The #20 and #42 bus will take you to the USS Arizona Memorial Visitor Center. Various commercial tour bus operators also include the USS Arizona Memorial on their sightseeing itineraries.
