Franklin Falls Dam


Sited on the Pemigewasset River near Franklin, this recreation area drains a 1,000 square-mile watershed that extends all the way to the White Mountains. There are 4,000 acres of wooded river valley available for recreation. Construction of the dam required the relocation of the entire village of Hill, NH to higher ground. Characterized by rugged beauty, this steep mountain range is filled with jagged peaks, deep valleys, cascading waterfalls and glaciers. North Cascades National Park Service Complex contains the heart of this mountainous region in three park units which are all managed as one and include North Cascades National Park, Ross Lake and Lake Chelan National Recreation Areas.
