Thomaston Dam


The Vista picnic area offers visitors excellent views of the dam and portions of the Naugatuck River Valley. The streamside environment is popular for fishing and upland game hunting. Riding trails are provided for seasonal trailbikes and snowmobiles. A radio-controlled model aircraft field, open to the public, is maintained by volunteers. The bighorn sheep is the mammalian symbol of Colorado Parks and Wildlife and Colorado's official animal. Colorado is home to the largest population of the species anywhere. The animals are five to six feet long with a tail three to six inches in length.
