Join the Continental Army A Junior Ranger Program Starting Saturday, January 7, 2006 11am-12:30pm Welcome Center (Offered the first Saturday every month: Jan- April) Learn what it was like to be a soldier in Washington's army. "Recruits" will be issued dummy muskets to practice the techniques and marching maneuvers used by the Continental soldiers. Some activities may take place outside, so please dress accordingly and wear sturdy shoes.
So You Want To Be a Curator? A Junior Ranger Program Saturday, January 28, 11am-Noon Welcome Center (Offered the last Saturday of every month: Jan - March) This exciting program explores what curators do in the National Park Service. Kids age 7-13 are invited to become guest curators and discover why we preserve historic objects and how items from the park collections may have been used by the soldiers.
Digging Archeology A Junior Ranger Program Saturday, March 11, 10:30am-Noon Welcome Center Join us for a fun family look at the exciting study of archeology here at Valley Forge. Students age 7-12 will learn the process and details that go into artifact retrieval. After the talk, there will be a walk to Muhlenberg Brigade for further discussion on the life of the Valley Forge soldier.
Junior Rangers learn about the Valley Forge encampment by completing an activity sheet as they follow the park tour. Junior Ranger sheets are available at the welcome center desk for free.
