War In The Pacific National Historical Park - Plan Your VisitOperating Hours & Seasons Currently, the following park units are open from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM: - Asan Beach Unit - Asan Bay Overlook - Ga"an Point We kindly request that all personal vehicles are parked outside the gates by 3:00 PM everyday. You are free to enter these park units at any time, but please be reminded that there may not be adequate lighting after dark and that any restroom facilities will be closed. Piti Guns Unit, Fonte Plateau Unit, Apaca Point, Mt. Chachao/ Mt. Tenjo Unit, and the Mt. Alifan Unit are not gated and may be accessed at any time. Please keep in mind that these sites are not patrolled by Rangers, may be remote, and do not have lighting after dark. T. Stell Newman Visitor Center Located in Sumay, Guam, in the old Army Reserve Center, our newly renovated Visitor Center is currently open to the public. We currently are displaying a variety of loaned exhibits and have completed our theater, which plays the park"s interpretive program on the Liberation of Guam, and others. For the next few months, the staff will be developing and installing a variety of temporary exhibits. We are open daily from 9:00am - 4:30pm. We are closed on some federal holidays and weekends from 12:00pm noon to 1:00pm. Please call (671) 333-4050 for more details. Flights through Guam via A.B. Wonpat International Airport. Car **Note: The park sustained severe damage and loss on December 8, 2002 due to Super Typhoon Pongsona. There is presently no visitor contact facility available to the public. Please view our map and visit the getting around the park section for specific directions to each unit. Directions are given from the airport. Asan Beach Unit: From airport, take Rte 10A to Marine Drv (Rte 1). Turn left and go approx 6.5 miles to Asan. The park unit is on the oceanside. Fonte Plateau: From airport, take Rte 10A to Marine Drv (Rte 1). Turn left and go approx 5 miles. Turn left on Rte 6, travel approx 1.5 miles. Park unit is located on the right. Ga’an Point: From airport, take Rte 10A to Marine Drv (Rte 1). Turn left go approx 13 miles. Road will end at the front gates of the Navy base. Turn left onto Rte 2 and go approx 3.5 miles. Park unit is located on the oceanside, after the fire station. Piti Guns Unit: From airport, take Rte 10A to Marine Drv (Rte 1). Turn left and go approx 7.5 miles. Turn left on J.M.Tuncap Street, after the 7-Eleven. Drive to the end of the street and turn right at the stop sign. Take the next left and park next to the church social hall. The trailhead is just behind the wayside exhibit at the base of the hill. |
