Washita Battlefield National Historic Site - Freshwater PlantsFreshwater plants line the banks of the Washita River and help make it a cool, wet haven for a variety of wildlife. Two plants that form almost a "substrate" in their abundance are false indigo and a lowland variety of switchgrass. Other native species commonly found growing along the river are: baccharis willow, prairie cordgrass, Torrey"s rush, and a variety of sedges. |
