Washita Battlefield National Historic Site - Ground Water

Depth of groundwater below the land surface varies from one part of the park to another. On the upland prairie areas it lies an average of 18 ft. underground. Closer to the river on the floodplain it is found an average depth of five feet.

No water quality testing of the groundwater has occurred within the park as of yet. The state does monitor groundwater quality elsewhere in the county.
