Whiskeytown National Recreation Area - For Kids![]() Gold Panning programs are offered during the summer months for children (and adults). Discover the myths and realities of the Gold Rush Days. Learn the history of the area and try your luck on a modern day gold hunt. Pans and shovels are provided. Park at Tower House parking area, walk down the path and across the footbridge. At Oak Bottom Amphitheater during the summer months, Thursdays 8:00-8:45 pm Both adults and kids are invited to join a cast of zany characters in a lively and entertaining program about how to safely enjoy Whiskeytown. Meet at the Oak Bottom Amphitheater. Call 246-1225 for more information. A Special 1 hour Junior Ranger Program is offered at 10 AM on Saturdays during the summer months. If you are between the ages of 7 and 12 you can become a Junior Ranger! Make new friends while exploring the natural wonders and recreational adventures of Whiskeytown. Meet at the Oak Bottom Amphitheater. JUNIOR FIREFIGHTER: A Special 1 hour Junior Firefighter Program is offered on Saturday at 11 AM during the summer months. Join Whiskeytown"s fire crew in this hands on program as you learn the important role they play in fighting fire and how you can help. Meet at the Oak Bottom Amphitheater. |
