Yosemite National Park - Yosemite Valley Campgrounds Regulations![]()
These apply to Upper Pines, Lower Pines, and North Pines Camping is permitted in designated, assigned sites only. Switching sites is not permitted. Six (6) people maximum per site, including children.Two (2) motorized vehicles maximum per site. All vehicles (motorized or not) must be parked on established parking pads designated for each site. Additional overnight parking is located at Curry Village Day Use parking lot. Vehicles may not be driven off the roadways. Current campground car passes must be displayed in ALL vehicle windshields. Camping limit is 7 days, inclusive, in Yosemite Valley from May 1 to September 15, and 30 days maximum per calendar year in Yosemite. Food must be properly stored 24 hours a day. No food in vehicles. All food, ice chests, grocery bags, and anything with a scent such as soap, sunscreen, hairspray, toothpaste, gum, etc. must be stored in metal food storage lockers except when preparing or eating meals. Keep a clean camp, dispose of trash regularly in bear-proof dumpsters. Keep metal food storage lockers closed and latched at all times. Food may be stored inside hard sided recreational vehicles (RVs) provided it is not visible or odoriferous from the outside, and all doors and windows are closed when unattended. (Read more about bears and food storage .) Campfires are permitted between 5 pm and 10 pm only from May 1 - October 15, and at any time from October 16 - April 30. Fires are permitted only in designated fire grates. Do not leave campfires unattended at any time. Fires must be completely extinguished with water so that the coals are cold and no smoke is visible. Wood gathering, including pine cones and pine needles, is prohibited in Yosemite Valley. Wood for campfires must be purchased from a store, or brought in from outside Yosemite Valley. Pets must be on a leash (not to exceed 6 feet) at all times. Pets are not allowed on hiking trails or shuttle buses, and may not be left unattended in vehicles, tents, or tied to an object. Pets are permitted in Upper Pines, Lower Pines and North Pines. Kennels are available at the stables by North Pines. All pet excrement must be removed and disposed of in waste receptacles. Digging, trenching, and leveling of the ground is prohibited. Failure to comply with these regulations may result in a citation, impoundment of property, and/or recovation of camping permit.
