Agate Fossil Beds National Monument Facilities
The visitor center at Agate Fossil Beds will be open the following hours: Memorial Day till Labor Day Open Daily 9 am - 5 pm; Labor Day till Memorial Day Open Daily 8 am - 4 pm. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Day. Operating Hours & Seasons Ranger taking flag down for the day. Visitor Center and Museum Summer Hours Daily from Memorial Day until Labor Day - 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Winter Hours Daily from Labor Day until Memorial Day - 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Visitor Center Closings: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day The trails are open year-round from dawn until dusk. Maine ocean islands provide the only nesting sites for Atlantic puffins in the United States. Eastern Egg Rock in the midcoast region, Seal Island and Matinicus Rock at the mouth of Penobscot Bay, and Machias Seal Island and Petit Manan Island off the downeast coast provide habitat for more than 4,000 puffins each summer.
