Ask for a brochure with a self guided map that describes the house as it was used by Robert E. Lee and his family. Rangers and volunteers are stationed in the house to answer questions and provide information. Groups are limited to 25 due to second floor weight limitations and to avoid overcrowding. Please: No eating, drinking, or gum chewing in the house.
Maine ocean islands provide the only nesting sites for Atlantic puffins in the United States. Eastern Egg Rock in the midcoast region, Seal Island and Matinicus Rock at the mouth of Penobscot Bay, and Machias Seal Island and Petit Manan Island off the downeast coast provide habitat for more than 4,000 puffins each summer.
