The park is open 8:30AM to 4:30PM year round--except for special event days which may have extended hours. Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas and New Year's Day.

Getting There


There is an airport outside of the town of Great Bend approximately 27 miles east of the park.


From Interstate 70, travel 30 miles west of Salina, Fort Larned NHS is 83 miles southwest, after taking exit 225. The park is also accessible by KS-156 and various other state roads.

Featured Wildlife
The pika is a close relative of the rabbits and hares, with two upper incisors on each side of the jaw, one behind the other. Being rock-gray in color, pikas are seldom seen until their shrill, metallic call reveals their presence.
