Nicodemus National Historic Site Activities
Visitor Center: (Located inside the Nicodemus Township Hall, south of the Roadside Park, off Highway 24.) View exhibits and learn about the history of Nicodemus and Blacks in the West.
Walking Tours: View the five historic buildings, part of a living community. The five historic buildings are physical expressions of the pillars of the African-American community - church, self-government, education, home, and business.
Year-round Jr. Ranger Program.
Maine ocean islands provide the only nesting sites for Atlantic puffins in the United States. Eastern Egg Rock in the midcoast region, Seal Island and Matinicus Rock at the mouth of Penobscot Bay, and Machias Seal Island and Petit Manan Island off the downeast coast provide habitat for more than 4,000 puffins each summer.
