The original Ardent tire is a tough, versatile Maxxis classic, but the new Ardent Race 27. 5in Tire takes a good thing and makes it even better. By condensing the tread and making the knobs shallower, Maxxis made the Ardent Race considerably faster without seriously reducing grip, but still kept the same ramped central knobs and burlier shoulder knobs for plenty of traction in the corners, especially in reasonably firm conditions. The Ardent Race also uses Maxxis' 3C Maxx Speed rubber compound, which blends three different rubbers to provide the optimal blend of durability, speed, and grip. Speaking of durability, the Ardent Race is available with EXO sidewall protection for increased burliness, if you're worried about tearing up your tires in tough terrain. Both EXO and non-EXO versions also utilize a super-supple 120 thread-per-inch casing, which smooths out rough trails and keeps you connected to the trail for ultimate control.
