The Glacier Literide from Petzl provides excellent security and holding power in a lightweight pack-friendly package. Because of its small stature and lightweight aluminum shaft this axe is ideal for ski- and snowboard-mountaineering especially given that it can easily be strapped to a pack for the descent. The toothed steel pick and steel adze provide a stable anchor and efficiently cut steps into the snow respectively. The stainless steel bottom spike plunges easily into even the hardest snow and the top and bottom both feature carabiner-clip holes for easy anchoring.
