For days full of big climbs and unfamiliar descents we throw a leg over the Santa Cruz Bronson. Built with the ultra-durable Carbon C layup this 150mm trail bike features stable geometry a 29in front wheel and a 27. 5in wheel out back--a combination that helps us plow through bomb holes stay upright over drops and corner quickly with precise split-second moves. Purpose-built for a mixed-wheel setup the Bronson offers a way better ride than some of the scrappy mullet setups and allows us to rail through corners and roll through chunder all day long. With 150mm of VPP rear travel and low anti-squat levels the Bronson has endless traction on everything from slick rooty climbs to dusty downhills. A slacker and longer geometry provides stability through high-speed technical sections while a steep seat tube angle optimizes our power transfer to carry us up the climbs. This particular Bronson benefits from the Carbon C layup which uses a bit more material than CC frames but still accelerates quickly and offers unflappable poise when pummeling through rough terrain. The reliable SRAM GX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain offers crisp shifting in just about any weather conditions while the suspension duties are handled by a perfectly balanced combination of a RockShox Super Deluxe Select+ rear shock and Fox 36 Float Performance fork so we can crush through high-tech gnarly terrain with confidence. A pair of Race Face AR Offset 30 wheels are laced to reliable DT Swiss 370 hubs for bombproof fast rolling performance while a set of SRAM Code R brakes let us stop on a dime when things start to get out of hand.
